OUR GOAL

Our goal was to understand the unique needs and aspirations of NFT enthusiasts-

Vision: How does NFT Decor aim to revolutionize the way collectors interact with digital art?

Target Audience: Who uses our services/products?

User Pain Points: What is our target audience’s pain points?

Project Strategy: How will this project solve that problem?

Constraints: What are the technological and design limitations we face in creating for this project?

Goal: How will we measure the success of NFT Decor in enhancing the NFT collecting experience?

Understanding the Market & Users

Competitive Analysis

In developing NFT Decor, we examined the digital art, looking closely at key players. Our focused analysis on direct and indirect competitors uncovered areas for innovation, particularly in community engagement and personalization.

In analyzing the competitive landscape, we identified gaps in community engagement and personalization within existing NFT platforms. NFT Decor leverages these insights to offer a more connected and customizable experience, setting a new standard in the digital art community

Key Findings:

  • Christie's:

    • Offers a renowned auction experience but may be intimidating for broader audiences.

    • Takeaway for NFT Decor: Strive for accessibility to attract and retain a diverse community of NFT enthusiasts.

  • Vidde:

    • Stands out for transparent NFT transactions but has a complex multi-app ecosystem.

    • Takeaway for NFT Decor: Reward system and customizable NFT playlist.

Gathering In-Depth User Insights

We conducted comprehensive user research, including 5 in-depth interviews with NFT owners and gathered 12 survey responses. In order to create a social network where users can decorate their room with their personal NFT collection, we analyzed the user pain points and insights.

Interview Transcript

Through our interviews with five NFT collectors, crucial insights emerged: collectors crave a platform where they can not only showcase but also connect. A need for a more interactive and community-focused space.

Survey Data analysis

During our project, we conducted a survey that garnered 12 responses, offering valuable insights into the preferences and behaviors of NFT collectors.

Socialization Trends Among Collectors

  • A significant 58% of survey participants indicated they do not socialize with other NFT collectors either online or in real life.

  • Additionally, 25% chose not to answer this question, suggesting a potential gap in social engagement within the NFT community.

Preferences for NFT Display

  • When asked about their preferred method of showcasing NFTs in a virtual space, the responses were evenly split. Both displaying NFTs on walls like a gallery and incorporating them as part of a virtual environment received 25% preference, indicating a desire for diverse and creative display options.

Desired Features in NFT Art Rooms

  • A notable finding from the survey was that a majority (10 out of 12 respondents) expressed a strong preference for "Interactive displays" in customizable NFT art rooms. This highlights the user's desire for engaging and dynamic features that enhance their experience of interacting with NFTs.

Synthesizing User Feedback

Affinity Diagram

After conducting all the feedbacks, we viewed and put in all the research data points into a User-Testing Results Spreadsheet. Then we carefully studied all our gathered data and performed analysis by doing Affinity mapping. This diagram visualizes of user feedback, ideas, and themes, providing a clear picture of the user needs and design direction.

User insight

Users need to find a more preferable way of interacting with other NFT collectors because finding a community to belong to is challenging.

How might we create a welcoming space that promotes socializing?

Users need to gain access to a method for displaying any and all NFTs in their collection because showcasing their items is enjoyable for the interactions that can be had in discussing them to anyone who takes interest.

How might we ensure users have a unique way to express their collection while making sure they have access to all their NFT items/wallets?

Insight Statement: We believe providing an app that promotes socialization between users  through a unique and interactive NFT display method will make a more welcoming and enjoyable NFT collecting community.

problem statement

NFT Decor  was designed to  give users a unique and customizable method to display their NFT collection with other collectors and social media platforms. We have observed that users that have used apps in the past related to NTFs, find it difficult to manage multiple accounts as well as connecting with and building relationships with other users in the shared hobby of NFT collecting, which is causing frustration in ease of displaying their collection as well as a decline in socializing between NFT enthusiasts.

How might we create a welcoming space that promotes socializing while also ensuring users have a unique way to express their entire NFT collection  so that users are successful based on the amount of social interaction they gain through the use of our app?

design thinking - I like, I wish, what if

Through design thinking, we explore 'I like' for strengths, 'I wish' for areas of improvement, and 'What if' for potential innovations in NFT Decor.

value proposition

Our organization NFT Decor is developing a NFT display app to help NFT collectors solve the problem of not having a sociable or unique way of displaying their collection to other people and fellow NFT enthusiasts.

We’re better because we provide users with access to any and all NFTs they own to be displayed through the app in one convenient location.

We’re believable because relationship building for users along with their freedom of  expression is our top priority.

Design Process and Development

Lo-fi Prototype

In the first phase of our NFT Decor project, we created paper wireframes to establish the basic structure of our app. These wireframes outlined the primary functions and the user's path through the app, providing a clear initial concept for our design.

Sketches and Concept

Our sketches begin with a simple approach, illustrating the initial user interaction with our app. The focus at this stage is on ensuring a clear and engaging start to the user experience.

Mid-fi Prototype

After sketching out our initial concepts, we progressed to creating mid-fidelity wireframes, bridging the gap between abstract ideas and tangible designs.

USER TESTING

Our next step was to conduct user-testing on our Mid-fidelity prototype, by recruiting users that fit our target demographic. We teamed up and performed total of 8 user testing.

Key learning from user test

After implementing the user testing changes to the Mid-fidelity prototype and convey the user feedback and positive points.

  1. User believes she should be aware of that the next step of logging in is upload collection.

  2. Navigation bar icons are unclear because there’s no text indicating the function of the CTA.

  3. Inventory items are too small, it could be bigger for more visual appearing and need something to indicate that user can scroll over to see more on the Decoration Mode page.

  4. User would like to see a notification showing up on the navigation bar so that she knows that there is a friend request.

  5. Combine 'Top Viewed Items' and 'Top Showroom' into a single, streamlined home page for a better user experience.

USER TESTING

After getting all the user feedback in place, it was time to work on the visual layer and bring forth a beautifully designed high-fidelity prototype. We team up together and search up online with all the web3/ NFT style inspiration which we needed to ensure consistency and a seamless experience of our digital products.

For the NFT Decor app, our mood board was a creative amalgamation of various UI styles, combining elements of futurism with a cyberpunk aesthetic. The chosen style direction, incorporating "Visual," "Balanced," and "Cyberpunk" themes, resulted in a user interface that is both visually captivating and functionally elegant.

final thoughts

Next Steps for This Project

  • 3D rooms that you can rotate angles

  • Customizable avatar

  • Interaction with NFT (ex: sitting on a chair NFT)

Reflections:

Reflecting on our journey with NFT Decor, it’s clear that diving into the dApp space with an exploratory mindset has not only broadened our technical prowess with 3D software but also deepened our understanding of user-centric design. These insights have been pivotal in elevating the platform beyond a mere collection space to a dynamic community hub. Moving forward, these lessons will guide our approach to innovative, user-focused design.
